Sunday Recap

I finished off Week 9 of this training cycle with 19 miles, which I’m pretty pleased with.

Monday: 4 miles at whatever pace felt good. Since the weather turned, I’ve noticed my pace has decreased overall.

Tuesday: Upper body workout. This was the first upper body workout I’ve done since I hurt my arm a few weeks ago and I was feeling all kinds of sore and weak afterward.

Wednesday: Speed workout (or is this a tempo? I should learn the difference): 1 mile warm up, 2 miles at hard effort, 1 mile cool down. It was hot enough for shorts and I tried to dial back so I didn’t overheat. I’m not a fan of feeling like I’m about to throw up.

Thursday: My morning class was cancelled so I got to have a bit of a leisurely morning. Basically, I got to eat breakfast and drink coffee while working on my paper before heading to the gym.

Then some more paper-writing in the evening:

Friday: Woke up to pouring rain so took my 3 mile run inside to the treadmill. I really don’t like the treadmill but I wasn’t interested in getting soaking wet and it was only 3 miles. I listened to a podcast and it wasn’t too bad.

I worked on homework while the cats napped away.

Minnie is getting so big!

We went to Olive Garden for dinner with Matt’s parents and I ate way more breadsticks than I should have. Worth it.

Saturday: 9 miles for my last long run of this training cycle. Cold but not as cold as last week.

Matt and I went to see Battle of the Sexes and it was really good. I’d highly recommend it. Then we spent the rest of the evening relaxing and I wrote a little bit for fun.

Sunday: Yoga! I will actually be doing this, instead of just talking about it, because my hips need it in a bad way. I’ll also be finishing my paper and working on an assignment for Civil Procedure. And laundry (of course) plus some grocery shopping.

This week, my focus is going to be on stretching or foam rolling every day in preparation for the race next Sunday. As far as school goes, my paper is due on Monday so that will be off my mind but I have a mid-term the day after the race, so my stress levels likely won’t change too much.

Until next time,
