Monday: 4 miles easy. It was also the last day of my Legal Writing class. I thought about all those Boston Marathon runners for these four miles. And was incredibly inspired by every one of them but especially the women.
Tuesday: After class, I went to the gym and knocked out a leg workout. I’m at the point in training where I don’t want to do a really difficult leg workout because I need to save my legs for my longer runs. But I still did enough to be sore the next day.
Wednesday: 8 mile tempo going up the big hill. After one mile to warm up, the goal was 9:20-9:30 pace but on the hill (which is almost two miles long) my goal was to maintain effort. And boy did I succeed. Coming down, and then the last two miles on flat roads, I was flying. Average pace for 8 miles: 9:16.
Thursday: Early alarm to get Week 11 MBB Home Push+Pull done.
Friday: We had two make-up classes and we normally only had one class. Knowing I had 3 classes, I didn’t do a core workout but started off the day with 4 miles easy at 10:15/mile pace.
Saturday: Up early to eat half a bagel and stretch. About forty five minutes later, I headed out around 7:00. Even though it was early, I could feel it would be warm. The first 8 miles went by nice and easy. But miles 9-12 weren’t great. It was a struggle mentally. I was listening to a podcast and the interviewee talked about how the pain of running is running and that helped. Then the last four miles I just picked up the pace and ended with an 8:16 minute mile for the last one. Overall average pace: 9:56.
I ran some errands and did some homework. And ate. I meant to take a nap but the day got away from me. Then Matt and I went to my parents’ for dinner. And I was asleep by 11:00. It was wonderful.
Sunday: Rest day! Which means (of course) homework, laundry, grocery shopping, and cuddling the cats.
I hope you all had a good week. I have 3 weeks left before the end of the semester and I’m starting to feel the stress of finals building. Send me good thoughts!
Until next time,
Elizabeth
