Sunday Recap

Here’s how my training went this week:

Monday: 6 miles after class. They felt pretty good.


Tuesday: No workout but lots of homework. The cats kept me company and I almost got a selfie with both of them:


This week, my law school hosted their annual lecture series, so two classes were cancelled. Then, at 5:00, we were all required (but I would have gone anyway) to watch the guest speaker. It was Anita Hill and it was an amazing opportunity to listen to her speak. I even dressed like an adult!


Then I spent the rest of my nightwith Minnie on my lap.


Wednesday: I didn’t want to run and I definitely didn’t want to do any speedwork. I got home later than I was expecting, which always leaves me feeling out of sorts. But I dragged myself out the door and after the first mile, I was more than ready for three speedy miles followed by one mile cool down.


Thursday: Leg workout but no selfie because the gym was crowded. Oh well. It was also mine and Matt’s 3-year anniversary and he surprised me with flowers!


A girl in my class set up an event called Bar Review, which was basically a belated happy hour where we got 10% off everything at a bar in town. I went out, had my glass of wine, and bonded. I don’t go out for anything other than special occasions (like 21st birthdays or bachelorette parties) so this was a big deal for me. I was still in bed by 10:00 p.m.

Friday: 4 easy miles in the morning and it was one of those cold, drizzling-rain autumn mornings. I loved it.

Saturday: 14 miles! My longest run since San Francisco and overall, it felt pretty good. I didn’t mentally struggle very much which was great and just what I needed. It was also cold. It wasn’t even 30 degrees when I headed out at 8:00 a.m. The day eventually warmed up to the fifties but yeah…these were some chilly miles.

Matt and I went to the Melting Pot for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. He had never been and I haven’t been since I was in high school. It was amazing. I highly recommend it for a fancier date night. Or just dessert- the chocolate fondue was the highlight for me. Matt can’t decide between the chocolate and the cheese. Then we watched Baywatch. It was hilarious. Also highly recommend.

Sunday: Yoga! After I hurt my shoulder a few weeks ago, I’ve been afraid to do any yoga. Some of the moves I tried definitely sparked a twinge but I was able to stretch out of my hamstrings and hips quite a bit and it felt so good. I also got homework and laundry done, then read with the cats. The perfect Sunday, if you ask me.

And that’s a wrap of the peak of my half-marathon training! Two weeks until race day!
